The Kansas City Chiefs jersey adorned with the name “Swelce” has stirred disapproval among Taylor Swift enthusiasts. While Swift’s fans generally appreciate her relationship with Travis Kelce, the commemorative jersey featuring their combined “ship name” failed to resonate positively. Kelce, donning the number 87, autographed the jersey, which was auctioned on the NFL-managed platform, Chiefs Bid, fetching over $500.

On social media, critiques ranged from describing the jersey as “giving the ick” to expressing preferences for alternative amalgamations like “Traylor” or “Tayvis” over “Swelce.” Despite the mixed reactions to the jersey, Kelce and Swift, who have been romantically involved for several months, have consistently shown support for each other’s careers. Kelce even visited Swift during her Eras Tour in South America, while Swift attended multiple Chiefs games during the season.

 

In an interview with Time Magazine, Swift clarified that they were already a couple by the time she attended her first Chiefs game in September. She emphasized the authenticity of their relationship, stating, “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.” Swift also addressed the attention she receives at Chiefs games, expressing uncertainty about the extent of the camera coverage and how often she appears in broadcasts.
