On Friday, Bronny James, Son of star player LeBron James, and the Los Angeles Lakers began the 2024 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the Lakers didn’t perform well in their first game and were defeated by the Houston Rockets 99-80. Despite the loss, James scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, and made two steals at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

After the game, NBA analysts started sharing their opinions on James’ performance against the Rockets. The ‘Undisputed’ host Skip Bayless offered his perspective on Bronny James’ recent struggle in the NBA Summer League.

The 72-year-old NBA analyst mentioned that LeBron James’ son has fallen into an early Summer League shooting slump. He also praised James’ shooting skills while advising on making some 3-pointers.

“Now Bronny has fallen into an early Summer League shooting slump – 3-14 tonight … 0-8 from 3. In 3 SL games: 0-12 from 3. Rooting for him. Wincing for him. He’s a much better shooter than this. Just needs to see one 3 go down.” Skip Bayless wrote in his latest post on X(formerly known as Twitter).

Coach Dane Johnson Praises James’ Rookie Start, Says Best is Yet to Come

The Lakers’ summer league coach, Dane Johnson, also shared his opinion on James’s performance in the first few games of his career. He mentioned that this is just the beginning of James’ career and that there is a long way for him to showcase his skills.

“Shoot, he’s going to have a long career. This is just the beginning. We just keep instilling [confidence], keep that in their heads. So we’ve got a long way to go. I don’t know about that yet, so I can’t really comment on that. But I think all these guys are going to be in the G League at some point — the draftees.” Johnson said to ESPN.

LeBron James was pleased with his son’s performance, even though their team lost. King James was ecstatic when Bronny scored his first points in a professional game. The Lakers’ star player enjoyed watching his son’s debut game on his phone.
