Love Island host Maya Jama has defended her friend and former Rizzle Kicks singer Jordan Stephens following his appearance on Aftersun this week
Maya Jama has been forced to deny rumours that she’s fueding with one of her best friends after they joined her on Love Island Aftersun.
Former Rizzle Kicks star Jordan Stephens, 33, who is also the long-term boyfriend of Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall, appeared on Aftersun this week to give his verdict on the 2024 contestants. Never one to shy away from giving his honest opinion, Jordan dished out the drama when he slammed Joey Essex and questioned other islander’s intentions as well as debunking their ‘fake’ relationships.
Most viewers at home were loving the drama from Jordan, however, others noticed that host Maya, 29, looked rather uncomfortable or ‘stressed’ while Jordan was sharing his thoughts on the series. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Love Island fans shared their thoughts. One wrote: “Jordan Stephens needs a permanent seat on this aftersun panel, but Maya looks kind of awkward lol.”

Another echoed: “Jordan always keeps it so real. Maya trying her best not to agree and laugh with him.” While another gushed: “Jordan needs to always be on Aftersun omg. Maya looks stresssssssssed however.”
Following the claims from Love Island viewers, Maya has now shut down rumours of a feud with Jordan. Taking to her Instagram story, the Love Island host set the record straight as she described Jordan as one of her best friends alongside a playful photo of them together.
“For those that don’t know, Jordan is one of my best friends. Some of you think I’m stressed by his comments on Aftersun, but I love it, I’m just trying to be professional,” Maya wrote alongside the snap.
It comes after fans were left convinced that Maya got engaged to her rapper boyfriend, Stormzy. Last week, Maya posted a series of loving photos on social media. In one picture, she was seen standing side by side with the rapper in a black and white snap looking loved up.
She captioned the post: “LVovers Thank you for having us @louisvuitton @pharrell.” And in another, there is a video of the pair, in black and white, kissing and looking playful.

Despite being invited by designer brand Louis Vuitton, it looked as though the little package on the table was enough to make fans feel as though the pair had sealed the deal – in the shape of an engagement.
One fan wrote: “For a second I thought the first pic was giving engagement.”Another said: “Tlling my kids this was the king and queen of the UK Meanwhile a fourth added: “4h slide is giving mum and dad.” And a fifth said: “We need more of this content please.” In August last year, Maya announced she rekindled her relationship with Stormzy, four years after their first split.
When they broke up, there were rumours of infidelity. Stormzy discussed their split in an interview with Louis Theroux. He said: “My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man. It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.’ That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? Away from someone passing away, that’s the biggest loss you can have.”
