“We need to sit down and have a meeting.”
The Who co-founder and lead singer Roger Daltrey recently stated his happiness at the idea of moving on from The Who.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, the vocalist touched on the band’s current status.
While he made it clear that any true decision about the band’s ending would have to be made together with bandmate Pete Townshend, Daltrey was content to consider The Who a thing of the past:
“I don’t write the songs. I never did. We need to sit down and have a meeting, but at the moment, I’m happy saying that part of my life is over.”
This isn’t the first time Roger Daltrey has had such an attitude towards recording and touring with The Who.
In a March 2023 interview, the frontman confessed he saw no point in a new album:
“What’s the point? What’s the point of records? We released an album four years ago [2019’s ‘Who’], and it did nothing. It’s a great album too, but there isn’t any interest out there for new music these days. People want to hear old music. I don’t know why, but that’s the fact. We’ve got quite a lot of young people in our audience these days. It’s quite interesting that they’re picking up on our music. But record companies, they just don’t do the same job as they used to.”
