BREAKING: Shocking New Details Emerge From Pat Mahomes Sr.’s Felony Arrest As Police Affidavit Released
Pat Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, was arrested for driving while intoxicated for the third time, making the offense a felony rather than a misdemeanor
The quarterback’s father was arrested in Tyler, Texas for a felony DWI on Saturday night. Mahomes Sr. was held at the Smith County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He was bonded out on Sunday.
According to an affidavit obtained by The Post from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, Mahomes Sr. was driving with an open 16-ounce Coors beer in the center console when he was stopped by police.
He reportedly told police that he “had a few beers while watching a game at a local bar” when asked why he was drinking while driving, per the affidavit.
He agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and displayed four clues of intoxication during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus eye test, five clues during the Walk and Turn test, and two clues during the One Leg Stand, according to police.
“Based on the totality of the circumstances,” the arresting officer wrote, citing probable cause, “I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place.”
The vehicle he was driving in was observed during a routine patrol driving slower than the other traffic in the area and police say that they ran a registration check on the vehicle and it showed an expiration date of 2022.
The former MLB pitcher who spent time with the Mets was also cited in 2008 and 2019 for driving drunk.
Now, his son has to likely answer questions about him on media Monday night at the annual Super Bowl Opening Night press conference.
