Needless to say, he had the best costume.
The memorable scene where the character Eddie Munson from Stranger Things plugs the guitar and proceeds to play an iconic song, ‘Master of Puppets’ by Metallica in the hellish landscape of Stranger Things’ otherworldly dimension “The Other Side” is one of the most memorable things to happen this year in the popular culture, as well as within the metal community. Garnering the response that it had, with tremendous amounts of shares on various social media platforms, the song skyrocketed on most popular music streaming services, even though the song itself is one of the most popular Metallica songs.
For this year’s Halloween, Metallica’s own James Hetfield dressed up as Eddie Munson. The costume consisted of a wig, T-shirt, leather jacket, and a denim vet in a “horns up” pose familiar to the fans of the show. Metallica shared the image on their official Instagram account.
The response to everything concerning this scene and the song was so great that the members of Metallica jammed with the Eddie Munson actor, Joseph Quinn, at the rehearsal for their Lollapalooza headlining gig this past July. During the meetup, the actor thanked Metallica for letting them use the song, while James hailed Quinn’s performance and thanked him, in turn, for doing the song justice.
