Enough has been said and written about Metallica’s 8th studio album “St. Anger”, from its lack of guitar solos to Lars Ulrich’s now-iconic snare sound making it arguably the most polarizing of all releases by the band.As 20 years have passed since its release, the record has now been met with warmer reception by the fans, with many acknowledging its importance in Metallica’s History and survival as a band.

And, while the fanbase might have issues with Metallica’s leaning into the trends of the era, incorporating alternative and nu metal elements into the album, few will deny that, for all its flaws, “St. Anger” sounds heavy and pissed off.

Well, what if it sounded even heavier? YouTuber Todd Barriage re-imagined one of the album’s deep cuts, “Dirty Window”, as a no-filler, aggressive hardcore punk track, and it works surprisingly well.
