In an interview with Vietcetera, the “All of me” singer revealed his latest album “LEGEND” describes the simplest and most original version of himself.
Grammy-award winner John Legend has recently released his latest album – LEGEND, his first double album with 24 soundtracks that include collaborations with Rapsody, Ledisi, Jhene Aiko, and Ty Dolla $ign.
The album cover also significantly describes the simplest and original version of John. When asked which part of John Legend his supporters can see in this album, he said that the listeners will feel and see several sides of him when listening to the album, back to the time when he was still single until he got married with kids. Of course, his muse and wife, Chrissy Teigen, is the inspiration of not one but many of the compositions in the LEGEND album.
Creating the album with all of his heart, each of the compositions means a lot to John, and it’s hard for him to say which one is the most meaningful. Sharing with us, he chose “Stardust” as the song that is full of emotion and spirituality for him and his wife.
Since the song relates back to their tough time, the singer wants to spread the healing message to the world: “No matter what you are going through and no matter how you feel at that time, you are special, and you mean something to people.”
Releasing this brand new album makes him feel that many people can connect themselves with his songs. “The whole album represents who I am,” John said.
From having over 80 songs written by him and other artists, choosing the 24 tracks was a challenge for John’s team, but overall, they’re proud and thrilled for the world to hear the songs.
“I’m so confident about what we have created because that has been so long, and it came exactly like we want it to be,” John told Vietcetera. “By that time, I’m not nervous about the music but curious to see how the world will receive it.”
Talking about the collaborations for “Legend,” John showed his love and enjoyment of working with different artists. Each of them brought him great energy while adding their own music flavor to the album. “They made the album better by their presence, and this keeps me refreshed and renewed as an artist,” he said.
The American singer is well-loved by his Vietnamese fans. In fact, earlier this year, he visited the country for the first time to perform at a private event in Hanoi. There he serenaded the audience with three of his hit songs, “You Deserve It All,” “Imagine,” and “All of me.”
