Morgan Freeman: A Life In Photos

Morgan Freeman, born Jun. 1, 1937, is an acting legend, known for his deep voice and tk delivery. The star has a career spanning over 5 decades, earning him an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe Award.

The star got his start acting in school plays in the Mississippi community he was raised in. He then moved to LA to study theater and earned early fame for his part on the kids show The Electric Company in the 70s. Several Shakespearean stage roles would follow. He had his breakout role in 1987’s Street Smart, which earned him an Oscar nom.

Films like GloryDriving Miss Daisy, and Lean On Me (all 1989) followed. More critical acclaim would follow for The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Se7en (1995),  and Amistad (1997). Morgan would finally earn an Oscar in 2004 for Clint Eastwood’s 2004 sports drama Million Dollar Baby. More recent projects include the Dark Knight trilogy of Batman movies, The Bucket List (2007), Invictus (2009), Olympus Has Fallen (2013), Now You See Me (2013), Last Vegas (2013), and Lucy (2014).
