Kelly Clarkson gets giddy with fandom as she and Kelsey Grammer sing duet of Frasier theme song: ‘This was like a dream come true for me, y’all’
Kelly Clarkson became giddy with fandom as she and Kelsey Grammer sang a duet of the Frasier theme Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs.
Kelsey sang the original version of the theme song in 1993, and it played in every episode for the show’s 11-season run until 2004.
Last year, a revival of the show debuted on Paramount+, moving the action from Seattle to Boston and giving Kelsey a whole new set of co-stars.
During a new appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelsey, 68, sang Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs with his hostess and a live jazz band.
After they delivered a stylish performance sure to delight both of their fanbases, Kelly gushed: ‘This was like a dream come true for me, y’all,’ and confessed that she was ‘freaking out right now.’

She was so thrilled to be singing the number with Kelsey that once the music stopped, she turned and bowed directly to him.
The Since U Been Gone singer effused that the original Frasier series was ‘literally, possibly – I mean, that’s a top two show for me of all time. Frasier is like one of my fav- you have no idea, I’m freaking out right now.’
In the reboot, Kelsey has returned to the role of Dr. Frasier Crane surrounded by a completely new cast.
Absent are the fan-favorite supporting stars of the original series.
John Maloney, who played Frasier’s father Martin, died in 2018 after a battle with throat cancer, meaning his character had to be killed off.
David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother Niles, decided not to join the revival in order to keep his schedule free for other projects he found interesting.
A natural consequence was that Jane Leeves, whose character Daphne was Martin’s caregiver and then Niles’ wife, also did not return.
Last month David gave an interview to the Los Angeles Times clarifying the reasons behind his decision to skip the Frasier revival.
‘It’s not like I said: “Oh, I don’t ever want to do that again.” I loved every moment. It was that I wanted to do other things,’ said David.

His other current projects include Julia, the HBO Max series about Julia Child, as well as the upcoming stage musical Here We Are.
Based on two films by Luis Bunuel, Here We Are will serve as the swan song of the late Broadway songwriter Stephen Sondheim.
‘When we got into real talks about the reboot, I had just started on Julia and was working on a musical and going to do another musical,’ said David. ‘I just thought: “I don’t want to be committed to a show and not be able to do stuff like this.””
Inasmuch as the show has shifted its action to Boston, ‘they don’t actually need me’ and ‘Frasier has moved on to a new world,’ David noted.
‘They have new characters. And I think I’m right. It’s doing great. And the new people they have are great,’ he graciously added.
