Johnny Depp is known for being a prankster and comedian on the set and often irritated Al Pacino while filming.
Johnny Depp and Al Pacino have been a remarkable duo that have appeared on the screen several times together. Back in 1997, the two appeared in a film titled Donnie Brasco that depicted the story of an FBI agent infiltrating a crime family in New York.
Being a prankster and a comedian, Johnny Depp often found ways to irritate veteran actor Al Pacino. Being terrified of the actor, Depp recalled how he once told Al Pacino that he was pretty insane and Al Pacino replied to Depp that he was pretty strange himself!

When Johnny Depp Called Al Pacino “Certified Insane”
Being a prankster who cannot simply sit, Johnny Depp has been known to run around sets harassing people and pranking the cast and crew members of his projects.
It seems that the actor did not care about age or status since he decided to irritate veteran actor Al Pacino during their 1997 movie.

While shooting Donnie Brasco, Johnny Depp revealed in an interview, his interaction with The Godfather actor. Stating that Pacino would just stare out into nothingness, Depp called him insane while Pacino replied that Depp was “pretty f*cking strange” too!
“I started pulling gags on Al [Pacino]. That was the moment I realized he was absolutely out of his mind. He’s certified insane! I wouldn’t spend a night anywhere near his house.
We’re about three weeks in the shooting. He’s sitting there, kind of just, kind of staring out. Finally, I just couldn’t take it anymore.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor further continued,
“I said ‘Hey, the one thing that I never ever expected or imagined was that, I mean, you actually certifiably insane’. I felt good for saying it.”
As the interview progressed, Johnny Depp revealed what Al Pacino’s reaction was since the actor came right back at Depp with his joke.

With the interview furthering, Depp impersonated Al Pacino (and a spot-on impression as well) as the actor discussed what happened after he called Pacino…“certifiably insane” on the sets of their 1997 film, Donnie Brasco.
‘Oh yeah! You didn’t know that?’ said Johnny Depp in Al Pacino’s voice. “I didn’t actually really know. And then he just sat there like the most beautiful f**king execution of timing and it just went, ‘Hey you know something? You’re pretty f**king strange yourself, you know?’”
With the iconic duo portraying iconic roles, Donnie Brasco received a rating of 7.7/10 on IMDB and a high of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 1997 film is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
