Fans Shocked: Johnny Depp Takes Center Stage in Trailer for French Film ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ Ahead of Cannes Film Festival Premiere!!

Actor Johnny Depp has made his return to the big screen with the upcoming French film, “Jeanne Du Barry.” The movie, directed by and starring Maïwenn, is set to open the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and will premiere in French theaters on May 16.

Unfortunately for Depp’s fans in the United States, a release date has not yet been announced for the film in the country. The recently released trailer, intended for the French market, does not feature English subtitles.

“Jeanne Du Barry” tells the story of a young woman named Jeanne Vaubernier, who comes from a working-class background and craves culture and pleasure. Using her intelligence and charm, she begins her ascent up the social ladder. Eventually, she becomes the favorite of King Louis XV, who is unaware of her identity as a courtesan. Through their passionate love affair, the king rediscovers his zest for life. Jeanne shocks the court when she moves to Versailles, disregarding the rules of etiquette and scandalizing those around her.

In addition to Depp, the cast of “Jeanne Du Barry” features Benjamin Lavernhe, Melvil Poupaud, Pierre Richard, Pascal Greggory, and India Hair.

Depp also has another project in the works as a director. He is set to helm the film “Modi,” based on the play “Modigliani” by Dennis McIntyre. The movie centers around the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani in Paris in 1916. Depp expressed his deep appreciation for Modigliani’s story and his excitement at bringing it to the screen, highlighting its universal themes of hardship and triumph.

Fans of Depp can look forward to his return to the silver screen in “Jeanne Du Barry.” As for a US release date, eager audiences will have to wait for further announcements.
