Fans Lose It After Will Smith and Johnny Depp’s Unexpected Run-In
While at the Red Sea International Film Festival at the start of December, Will Smith talked about his past mistakes and future plans, while also running into another well-known actor, Johnny Depp.
In a new video taken over the course of Smith’s time at the film festival, which he posted to Instagram on Sunday, Dec. 3, the actor explores Saudi Arabia and interacts with other people in the film industry, fans and locals. In one part of the video, Smith pulls Depp into a big hug, before the two smile and chat together for a moment.
Smith captioned the clip, “Wow! Thank You Red Sea Film Festival! You have created real Magic — An Oasis of art & creativity! What’s Next? I’m in.”
Many fans took to the comments to share their response to the two actors’ meeting, with one top-liked comment reading, “Ooooh…Will Smith and Johnny Depp… I’d definitely watch a movie with both of them 😍.”
“Was that Johnny Depp with you? Glad to see you having a great time! 😊,” said another, as a third wrote, “Anyone else get super excited when they saw Johnny Depp 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩.”

There were plenty of fans of the two, with more comments like, “Johnny Depp & Wil Smith = EPIC,” and “Is that Johnny Depp 😍! 2 faves in 1 place!” Most fans also seemed to be in agreement about their desire for the two actors to collaborate on a new project.
While the majority of comments on Smith’s video were positive, others who learned about the interaction shared displeasure on X. One person simply responded, “Oh hell no….” as someone else reacted with a gif of a man looking disappointed.
Another critical fan commented, “eww lol this is so tragic of them. they deserve each-other 🤢.”
Next on the schedule for Smith is the highly-anticipated Bad Boys 4, which has a June 14, 2024 release date, while Depp voices the main character in the animated movie Johnny Puff: Secret Mission, set to come out internationally in 2024.
