They formed a close friendship after starring in James Cameron’s iconic romance Titanic, released back in 1997.
Leonardo DiCaprio have proved their friendship is just as strong twenty years later, as they were seen enjoying a holiday together in France.
The co-stars, who played Rose DeWitt Bukater and Jack Dawson in the famous flick, recently reunited in Saint Tropez when Winslet, 41, supported her longtime friend and co-star, 42, at a gala for Leo’s environmental foundation back in July.
The pair not only posed for photos at the event in the South of France, but they took some time to catch up poolside at Leo’s luxurious French estate.
Kate slipped into a florescent orange bikini for the rendezvous, which she paired with a sheer white beach dress, to accentuate her enviable womanly curves.
Keeping casual ahead of their glamorous evening, the mum-of-three added a selection of delicate gold necklaces and tied her look together with oversized dark sunglasses.
She swept her hair into a messy ponytail and opted to go without make-up for her day by the pool, to draw attention to her enviably glowing complexion.
Meanwhile Leo, who most recently dated model Nina Agdal, stripped down to his swimming trunks, slung low at his hips to ensure he made the most of the glorious sunshine.
Adding a gold necklace of his own, the star kept casual as he spent a day relaxing with Kate – with his hair falling naturally to the side, proving him to be as handsome as his younger Titanic days.
Clearly with quite a bit to catch up on, the two friends were seen chatting on the deck of Leo’s villa as they soaked up the sun, before they walked back into the house with their arms wrapped affectionately around each other.
Kate and Leo were in St Tropez for Leo’s annual foundation gala held at the Domaine Bertaud Belieu, where the pair auctioned off the chance to dine with them at the winner’s place of choice in New York City.
The pair happily posed together for cameras at the bash – with Leo in a slick suit and Kate in a slinky black dress – before they gave a speech onstage, proving their chemistry as they laughed together and held hands in front of the crowds.
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation is ‘dedicated to the long-term health and well-being of all Earth’s inhabitants’, and has granted $80 million to environmental causes and organisations since 2008.
The star-studded event was also graced by Heidi Klum, Sean Penn, Lenny Kravitz, who performed for guests, and even Titanic co-star Billy Zane – who took to Instagram to share their reunion with fans, twenty years after the film’s release.
Cosying up together at the bash, the actor, 51, playfully joked in the caption: ‘Gangs all here. Now we’re saving icebergs. Go figure…’
In the film, Winslet’s character leaves fiance Cal Hockley (played by Zane) after meeting scrappy, working class artist Jack and falling for him, while aboard the doomed luxury liner.
The flick bagged eleven of the fourteen Oscars it was nominated for the year after its release, and has since grossed a whopping $2 billion worldwide – the second film in history to do so after Avatar, also directed by James Cameron.
Not stopping there, the pair then went on to star side-by-side again in romantic drama Revolutionary Road in 2008 – directed by Kate’s then-husband Sam Mendes.
Kate bagged the Best Actress gong at the 2009 Golden Globes for the flick, and her speech went down in history with fans as she openly thanked Leo for both his co-operation on screen, and strong friendship.
Emotionally taking to the stage, she gushed: ‘Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years, and your performance in this film is nothing short of spectacular. I love you with all my heart, I really do,’ to which the actor blew her kisses from the audience.
Following her win, Leo sweetly returned the compliments by revealing at the awards’ after party: ‘She is still as beautiful and radiant as she was the day I met her…she’s the best.’
The pair have been very open with their friendship in the past, attending a number of high profile events and awards together over the years.
In 2004, Leo even teased of a stronger connection between the pair, admitting to Oprah when asked who the best person he had kissed was: ‘Oh boy…There’s going to be some mad actresses… I’m just going to go with Kate Winslet, good old classic.’
Appearing side by side on the SAG Awards red carpet in 2005, Kate then returned compliments by admitting to her friend: ‘I just feel so proud that you’ve turned into this really special person. You’re a really wonderful person.’
Despite their close bond however, the actress was quick to deny she had ever enjoyed a romance with Leo, back in 2014.
Speaking to British Marie Claire she explained their friendship only worked because they had no romantic interest – meaning they could always support each other both in their careers and personal lives.
She explained: ‘I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing.
‘It’s so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did. He always saw me as one of the boys; I’ve never really been a girly-girl.
‘We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system.’
Kate is currently married to Ned Rocknroll, who she wed in New York in 2012, while Leo has had a more hectic love life – dating the likes of Gisele Bündchen and Bar Rafaeli, before being romantically linked to ten Victoria’s Secret models.
