This season, the Lakers are getting a lot of attention, but not necessarily for good reasons. This team actually struggles to be convincing, and Darvin Ham’s choices are often called into question, particularly with regard to his rotations. A player was also pilloried…
This season is anything but a smooth ride for the Lakers, despite the triumph at the In-Season Tournament. Relegated to 10th place in the Western Conference with a negative record of 20 wins for 21 losses, the franchise is far from the objectives set before the resumption of the exercise. Consequently, it is Darvin Ham who is the subject of criticism for the different tactical choices he may have made.
Indeed, the coach made many major decisions throughout the year. For example, Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell had to sit on the bench for several games. Other players have also seen their playing time significantly drop, and fans are not upset by this situation since they consider that some of them unfairly benefit from more playing time:
A Lakers rotation questioned by fans
If you want a shot creator and a good finisher near the rim, you put Rui Hachimura in the major five. If you want an iron defense, see 100% effort and dynamism, you make Jarred Vanderbilt a starter. If you don’t want any of that, you have to play Taurean Prince as a starter.
Since the start of the season, Taurean Prince has been in the 5 major in the 39 matches he has played so far, while Rui Hachimura has only started 5 times in 27 matches. Concerning Jarred Vanderbilt, he started on the field as many times as the latter in 20 confrontations. Problem, the former Timberwolwes is far from justifying this confidence from his coach and that annoys more than one in Los Angeles…
I love Prince, but it must be said that he doesn’t deserve more than 20 minutes per game, and he shouldn’t be a starter.
The Lakers’ performance is very disappointing this year. As a result, Darvin Ham is under fire from criticism, his rotation choices being questionable according to some fans who preferred to see more Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt on the floor rather than Taurean Prince.
