LeBron James has been cryptic about his future with the Los Angeles Lakers.

James’ agent, Rich Paul, shut down rumors that he would be traded or request a trade, but James hasn’t been as direct.

“LeBron won’t be traded, and we aren’t asking to be,” Paul told ESPN.

James, 39, has an option worth $51.4million in his contract for next season.

At a workout in New York wouldn’t give reporters and idea of what he was thinking about the option, simply saying “no” to a question about his future.

On Tuesday after the Lakers’ loss to the Atlanta Hawks, James tweeted out an hourglass emoji, something he also refused to clarify.

The Lakers made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals last season and won the In-Season Tournament earlier this year, but they only sit at 25-25 this year and are barely in a playoff position.

James has a matchup against the Knicks on Saturday night, but was listed as questionable due to an ankle injury.

“Physically? I mean I’ve been better,” James said.

“But I’ve been a lot worse. But hoping to be able to go out and contribute tonight, help our team win the ball game, obviously.”

James and the Knicks have been connected in plenty of rumors as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

Knicks president Leon Rose reportedly met with James’ agent to build a new relationship between the two parties.

If James uses his option to become a free agent after this season, the Knicks could be a top suitor.

The Knicks have been on a tear, winning nine games in a row and moving to the No. 3 seed in the East.

They are looking for one more piece to add to make them a true championship contender.

They have until February 8 to swing any more trades this season.
