F1 racing | Max Verstappen finished first at GP Abu Dhabi
The final stage of the 2023 F1 season took place yesterday at Yas Marina racetrack, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Right from the first meters, Charles Leclerc in 2nd position tried to attack Max Verstappen. However, the Dutch racer still maintained his position. He then hardly faced any great pressure and continued to have another victory. This is the 19th time Max Verstappen has finished first this season – a record that will probably be difficult to break in the near future. He did not forget to perform a celebratory drift in the excitement of the audience.
Attention is paid to the group behind, with the focus being on the competition between the Mercedes and Ferrari teams. Even though Sergio Perez finished behind Max Verstappen, 5 seconds were added to his score after an illegal lane encroachment. That helped Charles Leclerc be promoted to second and George Russell to 3rd. Plus 2 points from Lewis Hamilton’s 9th place, the Mercedes team closed the season with 2nd place with 3 points more than Ferrari.
The 2023 F1 season has ended. The teams will still stay in Abu Dhabi until the middle of next week to test their cars before going on vacation. F1 2024 will start in early March with the opening race at Sakhir racetrack, Bahrain.
