‘Alarming’ Tiger Woods Stats Adds Salt to His Abrupt WD From Genesis Invitational

Destiny has not been in Tiger Woods’s favor for some time now. Ever since his near-fatal car crash in 2021, the loop of failed aspirations seems to have become a reality for the star and his fans. After almost a year of waiting, Woods made his professional appearance on the greens, only to sadly end in untimely withdrawal. However, now as it turns out, this withdrawal is not the worst thing to happen to the golfer. With this unfortunate move, came statistical information that could almost make every TW question his skills.
In the ‘alarming’ revelation, it has been confirmed that ever since the 48-year-old was involved in the car crash, he has only had six official starts. Yes, you heard that right. Now, what is shocking is that in his six starts, Woods has only been able to complete 72 holes twice, as per TourMiss, a golf news account on X. It was in the 2022 Augusta showdown and the 2023 Genesis where he finished at the 47th spot, and 45th spot respectively. But what about the rest of the events he teed up in?
Well, the GOAT has sadly missed the cut in 1 of the 6 competitive starts. It was in the 2022 Open Championship at the St Andrews Links (Old Course). Other than this, he also withdrew from three events namely the 2022 PGA Championship, the 2023 Masters, and now the 2024 Genesis Invitational.
Sadly enough, the spell of bad luck just does not seem to lift in the 15-time Major winner’s case. After undergoing numerous surgeries, his health condition appears to be in a downward spiral. Despite his many tries to bounce back, something or the other becomes an impediment to his roaring return. This time, however, it was not just his game that took the brunt of his health condition, but also his host duties.
How did catching ‘influenza’ affect Genesis’s host duties?
Following his ill health due to catching Influenza, Woods could not even see through his duties as a tournament host of the Genesis Invitational. Yes, it has been confirmed that the 5-time Master’s Champ will not be seen “on-site, in the booth, or on the 18th green later today like we usually do.”
But who will take care of the tournament’s trophy ceremony, a job rightfully bestowed upon the tournament host? Well, as per reports, the Foundation staff will take that burden off of an ailing 82-time PGAT winner’s shoulders.
