The actress didn’t have faith in the young relationship.
The love life of NBA players is not usually characterized by loyalty and family life, but in the sea of wild and rich bachelors, some traditional men still settle down early. One of them is Stephen Curry, who has been married to his college sweetheart, Ayesha Curry, for 12 years.
But if you asked actress Gabrielle Union, the wife of NBA legend Dwyane Wade once upon a time, that relationship didn’t have the potential to become so great. Union’s advice to the Curry couple was revealed during a joint Instagram Live between the two couples back in 2020.
“‘You should just break up now and have sex with other people,'” Union gave her advice via USA Today. “I used different language, but is that not what I told y’all both?”
Real love story
Steph and Ayesha met as teenagers in a North Carolina church group, as the love grew early, and the two saw they were meant for each other. After getting married in 2011, Steph and Ayesha would become a big family, welcoming three children into their lives and becoming one of the most famous public couples out there.
You can often see Ayesha cheering for Steph on the sidelines and providing the support every man needs, as Union went on to explain herself and share how their love is a rare gem.
“Listen, you guys are unicorns,” Union reflected. “There are very few people that I’ve met who have been consistent. I mean, I’ve known you guys well over a decade. There’s a lot of people who talk about faith, and there’s a lot of people who talk about moving the culture forward, but something isn’t real somewhere, right? And when people are like, ‘Are (Ayesha and Stephen) really – are they real?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, they’re some of the only people that I’ve met who have been consistent…’ “
Bad judgment from Union
It’s safe to say that the famous actress misjudged the young love between Steph and Ayesha, but in the end, she realized this was not a classic relationship.
The celebrity pair has been married since 2014, welcoming a daughter in 2019, as they are still going strong despite all the past turbulence.
“I wish more people understood that it is possible to be people of faith and also want to move the culture forward. Those two things don’t have to exist separately. You guys do a beautiful job of being exactly who you claim to be,” Union concluded while praising the Currys.
