The “24K Magic” singer took a break from his 24K Magic Tour in Nashville, Tennessee to celebrate his birthday in the most “extra” way he could think of.
Bruno Mars turned 33 years old on Monday, and he celebrated it as any of us would, by having Ed Sheeran sing “Happy Birthday” to him.
The “24K Magic” singer declared Oct. 8 “Bruno Mars Day” in an Instagram post where he posted a video of Sheeran playing the guitar and singing the song to him.
Meanwhile, Bruno could be seen enjoying a custom cupcake birthday cake — while also making sure that Sheeran correctly identified him in the song as “two-time Super Bowl performing Bruno.”
There were gold balloons, and Bruno even had a gold party hat on his head. If you’re thinking it all sounds a bit “extra” you wouldn’t be lone.
Bruno captioned the image, “You know you’ve made it when you can hire Ed Sheeran to sing you Happy Birthday,” adding the hashtag “#ExtraForever!
When it was all done, amid a spattering of applause, Bruno tapped his fork on the cake’s holding tray and demanded, “Again!” As Ed complied, we could only shake our heads and think, “Extra indeed!”
The video was filmed backstage at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee where Bruno spent the evening performing as part of his 24K Magic Tour.
That tour will continue to make its way across America before culminating in Las Vegas on Dec. 31. But only the people of Nashville got to celebrate “Bruno Mars Day” with him.
