A few years ago, during the Star Screen Awards, Ranveer went all out to declare his love for his wife and dedicated his award to her. She was awestruck with his speech and couldn’t hold back her tears.

Just a month after their wedding, when Ranveer won the Star Screen Awards’ Best Actor trophy for his stellar performance as Allauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, which also starred Deepika, the actor didn’t miss a chance to heap praises on his lady love. Ranveer’s emotional speech at the award ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to his parents, sister, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and his team but it was specifically dedicated to his wife and Kalki 2898 AD actor, who sat in the audience, proudly cheering on him.

Film mein shayad mujhe meri rani nahin mili par real life mein mujhe meri rani mil gayi. Baby I love you, Peechle 6 saalon mein mein agar maine kuch bhi achieve kiya hai kyunki aapne mujhe grounded rakha… centered rakha. (I might have not gotten my queen in the film, but in life, I did. Baby I love you. In the past six years, whatever I have achieved, you have kept me grounded and centered.) Thank you for everything and I love you,” Ranveer said in his speech. As the audience cheered in approval, Deepika was in tears.

Deepika and Ranveer, who met on the sets of Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela, and fell in love with each other, went on to share the screen space in films like Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. Deepika and Ranveer dated for six years before tying the knot in 2018. The couple, who is expecting their first child in September, announced her pregnancy in February.
