Beloved Kansas City disc jockey and mother-of-two, 44, is confirmed as the dead victim of Kansas City Super Bowl parade that also saw 21 injured – including NINE kids

Kansas City DJ and mother-of-two has been named as victim killed in the Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting, which also saw 21 others injured.

Three gunmen opened fire inside Union Station shortly after 3:30 pm on Wednesday, seconds after the team including Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes left the stage.

The team had been in the city celebrating their Super Bowl win on Sunday, when chaos erupted.

The Kansas City Star first reported that Lisa Lopez-Galvan died in the shooting on Wednesday.

Close friends confirmed to the outlet that Lopez-Galvan died during surgery at a hospital for a gunshot wound to her abdomen.

Local Democrat Manny Abarca who was a friend of Lopez-Galvan’s spoke about her impact in an interview with TalkTV‘s Jeremy Kyle and Rosie Wright on Talk Today.

‘It’s a tragic situation. I was there with my six year old daughter, Camilla and we went from catching confetti to hiding in a bathroom, not knowing what our fate may be. Unfortunately, this is the state of large events like this in America.’

We have to look out for those with weapons that are readily accessible, and accessible particularly in states like Missouri,’ he continued.

Abarca went on to call Lopez-Galvan an ‘incredible leader in the Latino community’ in Kansas City.

‘I’ve had the opportunity and privilege to be on her show and participating in community events throughout Kansas City with her and her family. So she is a large loss to our community.’

‘But also, she was a mother. She was a friend and neighbor. These are the types of folks that, tragically, are victim to what some, you know, use as a hobby, collecting so many guns.’

On Twitter, Abarca promised that his friend’s tragic death would not be in vein.

‘I will not let her death go in vein. I will legislate, I will fight and I WILL do everything in my power to change this State and City for the better,’ he said.

Police said that 22 people were injured in the shooting which includes nine children, with one person dying. It is unclear whether Lopez-Galvan is that individual.

A friend of Lopez-Galvan, Lisa Lopez, told the outlet: ‘She was the most wonderful, beautiful person.

‘She was a local DJ. She did everybody’s weddings. We all know her. She was so full of life.’

The Star reported that Lopez-Galvan was married with two children and worked as a DJ for a community radio station.

She had co-hosted the ‘Taste of Tejano,’ which featured Hispanic music, alongside her brother Beto Lopez.

The latest update from the Taste of Tejano Facebook page said: ‘Friends and family. Please keep our Lisa and the Lopez family in your prayers.’

Since news of her death, friends and family have started paying tribute to Lopez-Galvan on social media.

One post said: ‘With a heavy heart we say good bye to our beautiful cousin Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

‘Your senseless death at today’s KC parade has left us in shock and with a huge void in our hearts. Rest in Peace dear Lisa, we’ll miss you. Until we see you again.’
