Patrick Mahomes Sr. launches staunch defense of his son’s ‘dad bod’ after video of shirtless Chiefs QB went viral following AFC Championship win: ‘He’s at the gym all the time’

 

Patrick Mahomes‘ father has come out in staunch defense of his son’s physical shape after the Chiefs quarterback was made fun of for having a ‘dad body’ on social media following Kansas City’s AFC Championship win.

Last week, the two-time NFL MVP was seen shirtless while addressing his teammates in the Chiefs’ locker room after a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

‘Great job today. Like I’ve been saying – we ain’t done yet,’ Mahomes said, at the time. Netizens – a portmanteau of the words internet and citizen – were quick to taunt the father of two’s belly.

Mahomes himself responded to the criticism on X, formerly Twitter. However, his dad also decided to jump into the conversation to explain that his son isn’t as ripped as other players due to genetics of his own.

After admitting that he had already seen the viral AFC title postgame footage, Patrick Mahomes Sr. defended his 28-year-old son.

‘He’s at the gym all the time,’ the former MLB pitcher, who had stints on the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates among other teams, told CNN. ‘He works out three times a week.

‘He’s just unfortunate he got that from me. That’s in his DNA. We don’t get the muscles like DK Metcalf and some of the guys that are built like rocks and statues.

‘We just got this natural dad bod, but hey, we representing.’

Mahomes Sr. also said that he and Taylor Swift, who he described as ‘very nice’ and ‘pleasant,’ shared a suite at a Chiefs game but only once

When asked his thoughts on the excitement around the Chiefs and Taylor Swift, with whom he shared a suite once with, ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas next week, Mahomes Sr. said: ‘Well, it’s exciting. I mean Taylor has always been very, very nice and pleasant to me.

‘I actually was in the box with her only one time. I’ve went over and seen her after games and stuff like that.

‘But, she’s always been pleasant. But, the buzz around the Chiefs is real, man. It’s real. I mean anytime you can get back to the Super Bowl as many times as they’ve had… and it’s not just Patrick, it’s the whole team, you know?

‘Every sporting team…their goal is to get to that final game and they’ve been fortunate enough to get back now four times and hopefully we can finish it off right this time.’
