Actress Jennifer Lopez appeared in an episode of Inside The Actor’s Studio in 2004 and recalled the time she was forced to appear topless in a scene in 1997’s U Turn. The actress revealed that the scene was added during filming and it was something she didn’t wish to do but after a long argument with the film’s director, Oliver Stone, she agreed,
“It’s hard being the only woman on a set … But it actually worked in the movie.”
Jennifer Lopez played the role of Grace McKenna in the movie alongside some well-known Hollywood stars like Sean Penn, Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Voight, Powers Boothe, Joaquin Phoenix, Claire Danes, and Nick Nolte.
In 2020, Jennifer Lopez appeared in a round table interview with fellow stars Scarlett Johansson, Renée Zellweger, and Lupita Nyong’o for The Hollywood Reporter. During the interview, the actress recalled the time, a director asked her to remove her top while she was being fitted for a costume. The actress said,
“And I said no, I stood up for myself. But it was so funny because I remember being so panicked in the moment. And by the way, there was a costume designer in the room with me. So there was another woman in the room and he says this and I said no. Luckily a little bit of the Bronx came out, and I was like, ‘I don’t have to show you my – No. On the set, you see them.’”
It is certainly not easy being a female superstar but Lopez was able to overcome all these challenges and established herself as one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry.
