The Can’t Be Tamed singer further talked about how this track is a “butterfly” for her. She told a story while standing beside Mariah Carey sharing (Via OK! Magazine),
“So there was a little boy that all he wanted for his birthday was a butterfly. And so his parents gave him a butterfly net and he was so excited. He just went outside, out in the sun, and started swinging and swinging. But with no luck.”
She continued.
“He sat down on the ground he finally let go and he surrendered and he was okay that he wasn’t gonna capture this beautiful butterfly.
And right when he did is when the butterfly came and landed right on the tip of his nose. This song ‘Flowers’ is my butterfly.”

The duo first fell for one another while working on 2009’s The Last Song.
From blossoming their on-screen romance to keeping their real love low-key, they eventually ended up going through a sudden breakup in 2010.
While many were shocked about their actions, they eventually rekindled their romance and got engaged in 2012 after maintaining their on-off dating life.
