Iowa basketball superstar Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes travel to Indiana on Thursday to face the Hoosiers — a potential preview of where Clark will play basketball next season.
Not with the Hoosiers, but with the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, located in nearby Indianapolis.
The WNBA franchise holds the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and could very well select Clark, who is widely considered to be the top available player available — if she decides to declare for the draft instead of returning to school for a fifth season.
Clark, who’s averaging an NCAA-high 32.8 points and 8.5 assists per game this season, showed she can take a program to unprecedented heights when she led Iowa to the national championship game last season, where the Hawkeyes ultimately fell to LSU.
The Fever finished with the WNBA’s worst record from 2022-23, with a combined 18-58 record that landed them the best odds in the draft lottery.
The franchise officially won the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery in December, and the top overall pick that comes with it.
No. 4 Iowa and No. 14 Indiana are two of the Big Ten’s best teams this season, ranking second and third in the conference standings, respectively, behind No. 2 Ohio State (22-3, 13-1).
In the Hawkeyes and Hoosiers’ last matchup, Iowa won 84-57 behind Clark’s 30 points and 11 assists at home.
