At the House of National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Olympic Committee listed the names of the country’s successful athletes, teams, and coaches. In this announcement, fans were thrilled to see Novak Djokovic bagging the title of Best Serbian Athlete of 2023. Along with Djokovic, Serbia’s Ivana Spanovic also received similar recognition from the committee.
While beginning the ceremony, the President of the Serbian Olympic Committee said- “Last year, our athletes won many medals and trophies. But I want to emphasize that not only medals and trophies are indicators of where our sport is, but also a large number of successfully organized international competitions in our country, including world and European championships. This shows that our sports workers are among the best in the world.”
The President’s address represented that Serbia takes a huge pride in their talented athletes and Djokovic is surely a shining star in the list. While Djokovic surely made his country proud, it is truly great to see his country showering him with so much love and respect.

This year, the Serbian Postal Service released two domestic stamps with the Serbian tennis legend’s name featuring his career milestones in the form of art. This gesture truly melted Djokovic’s heart as he said- “An honor to receive my very own Serbian stamp. Thank you to my generous country for this rare gift! I’m humbled!! Excited to share we’ll partner with the Serbian National Postal Service on @novakfoundation projects for every child to have the opportunity to attend preschool.”
