From Grand Slams to setbacks, Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has come a long way. Someone who started his tennis coaching career at the age of 26, Patrick Mouratoglou has taken the tennis world by storm with his wisdom and knowledge. He has coached players including Serena Williams, and Simona Halep, and now Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff, and Holger Rune are under his training umbrella.
Recently, Mouratoglou made a huge revolution regarding how he hoped for this adventurous ride of being a tennis coach. Not only that, but he also received a heartwarming message from the American actress Hilary Swank.
Hilary Swank’s heartwarming message for Serena Williams’ former coach
Just a few days ago, the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, opened up about his turbulent youth. In BRUT’s intriguing Instagram series, ‘My Failures,’ he dwelled into his past and revealed significant parts of his life that tennis fans have never heard of. He described that his useful days were nothing less than a nightmare because he had a persistent issue of mental health prevailing at that time.
Along with this honest admission about how he had no confidence and was unable to connect to people, he made himself lonely during his early tennis days. After the distressing confession came to light, the 49-year-old American actress Hilary Swank dropped a heartwarming comment praising the French tennis coach.
Swank wrote, “Thank you for sharing. You’re a remarkable human and I’m so happy to know you.” Patrick Mouratoglou sweetly replied to the comment and thanked her for such supportive words. He replied, “@hilaryswank thank you for that Hilary! You are amazing!” While becoming a coach during his 20s was quite tough, the 53-year-old put himself together and created a name for himself in the tennis arena.
Nevertheless, this is not the first time he has talked about his past journey. A few years back, Williams’ former coach detailed how he found success after finding a turning point in his life.
When Patrick Mouratoglou dwelled on the turning point of life
He said, “That was a turning point in my life because I felt like my life was taken away from me. [Tennis] was my life and my passion.” However, following in his father’s footsteps, he became a part of his father’s business, but even after doing great on the entrepreneurial front, his determination to get into tennis got him where he is today.
Nevertheless, what do you think about Mouratoglou’s anxious revelation? Do share your thoughts in the comment section below.
