Felix Auger-Aliassime is leaving no stones unturned to repeat a ‘Jannik Sinner thing.’ Recently, the 23YO Canadian got a hard-fought victory against the Frenchman Arthur Cazaux in the second round of the Open Sud de France. But more than his victory, Auger-Aliassime’s puking into the bin during the match has caught the attention of the tennis fans.
Even Jannik Sinner did a similar thing last year at the China Open in Beijing. After that, fans believe ‘post-puke Sinner‘ has become a different player. Is Felix Auger-Aliassime heading that way? Here’s what the fans had predicted.
Fans give out a strange prediction for Felix Auger-Aliassime
Jannik Sinner vomited in a bin last year and decided to become one of the most in-form tennis players over the last few months. The 22YO Italian went on to hold a record of 24-3(88.8%) including a staggering 11 victories against the Top 10. In almost 3 months he managed to defeat the world number 1, Novak Djokovic thrice and recently also ended his 33-match winning streak at the AO. Can Felix-Auger Aliassime repeat a similar ‘thing’?
Seeing Felix Auger-Aliassime puking into the bin, one of the fans wondered if the Canadian was trying to go the Sinner way.
Another one added, “This one really thinks he is Jannik Sinner.“
Some of them said, “If we have learned ANYTHING from Jannik Sinner’s current run, Felix Auger-Aliassime is about to go on the run of his LIFE, and win a Major, soon!”
A few stated that he is trying everything that had worked for Sinner over these months.
“POST PUKE FAA HERE WE GO“, said the other.
Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Arthur Cazaux by 7-5,2-6,7-6(4) at the Court Patrice Dominguez on Thursday to seal his place in the QF of Open Sud de France. The former world number 6, is making a comeback after suffering a minor knee surgery at the end of last year. Auger-Aliassime reached the third round of the AO earlier and now he has advanced to the QF. What did he say after the match?
Auger-Aliassime calls it a crazy match
Both of them met each other for the first time on Tour. The local favorite hit 12 aces in the match but still ended up losing against the current number 30. After his victory, Felix Auger-Aliassime said, “It was a crazy match. Arthur came up with the goods and he served and played amazing when he needed to. I was playing great tennis and then he raised his level. He played an unbelievable game to break me in the second.“
He added, “I had to stay calm and just find a way to stay in the match and give myself a chance. You have to stay focused, composed and not let the emotions get the best of you. I think I did that well today.”
Next up for the Canadian on Friday, is another Frenchman, Harold Mayot. Can he follow the footsteps of the Italian and unveil a ‘post-puke FAA‘?
