20 countries with the most ATP titles in 2023: Novak Djokovic’s Serbia’s ranking is no surprise

Players from 20 different countries won ATP Tour singles titles in 2023 and Serbia and Russia finished joint first while the United States were down in fifth.

Interestingly, there were no title winners from Switzerland in 2023 with Stan Wawrinka only managing to finish runner-up while Canada won only one title while Great Britain managed to win two titles.

Novak Djokovic won the most titles in 2023 and his seven helped Serbia to finish top alongside Russia.

The world No 1 lifted trophies at the Adelaide International 1, Australian Open, French Open, Cincinnati Open, US Open, Paris Masters and the ATP Finals.

Dusan Lajovic also did his part as he won the Srpska Open.

Russia had three different title winners in 2023 with Daniil Medvedev leading the way by winning the Rotterdam Open, Qatar Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, Miami Open and Italian Open.

Andrey Rublev had success at the Monte Carlo Masters and the Swedish Open while Karen Khachanov won the Zhuhai Championships.

Countries with seven titles – France and Spain
France and Spain are joint third and the former had the most individual winners in 2023 with five while they also had the youngest and oldest title winners.

Adrian Mannarino stole the show as he won the Halle of Fame Open, the Astana Open and the Sofia Open. Arthur Fils was the youngest title winner in 2023 as he was 18 years and 11 months when he won the Lyon Open while Gael Monfils was 37 years and one month when he lifted the Stockholm Open trophy.

Richard Gasquet won the Auckland Open and Ugo Humbert won the Moselle Open.

Carlos Alcaraz won six of Spain’s seven titles with his successes coming at the Argentina Open, Indian Wells Open, Barcelona Open, Madrid Open, Queen’s Club Championship and Wimbledon.

Roberto Carballes Baena, meanwhile, won the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco.

Countries with six titles – United States

The United States were fifth on the list as Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Chris Eubanks and Ben Shelton picked up titles this year while the country also won the United Cup, although that doesn’t count in the overall tally.

Fritz won the Delray Beach Open and the Atlanta Open while Tiafoe’s two titles came at the US Men’s Clay Court Championships and the Stuttgart Open.

Eubanks and Shelton both won their maiden titles in 2023 with the former tasting success at the Mallorca Championships and Shelton winning the Japan Open.

Countries with five titles – Argentina
Three Argentines enjoyed title runs in 2023 with Sebastian Baez winning the Cordoba Open, the Austrian Open and the Winston-Salem Open. Pedro Cachin tasted success at the Swiss Open and Francisco Cerundolo was the last man standing at the Eastbourne International.

Countries with four titles – Italy
Jannik Sinner carried the load for seventh-placed Italy in 2023 as he not only steered his country to their first Davis Cup Finals since 1976, but he also won four titles this year.

The 22-year-old’s biggest trophy came at the Canadian Open in August, but he also won the Open Sud de France, China Open and Vienna Open.

Countries with two titles – Australia, Chile, Great Britain, Germany, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Poland
Australia had two title winners in 2023 with Alex de Minaur tasting success at the Mexican Open in February before Alexei Popyrin defeated Stan Wawrinka in the Croatia Open final in July.

Nicolas Jarry gave home fans plenty of reason to celebrate when he won the Chile Open in Santiago and he then won a second title at the Geneva Open.

Great Britain’s title winners Cameron Norrie (Rio Open) and Dan Evans (Washington Open) while Alexander Zverev won the Hamburg Open on home soil and the Chengdu Open.

Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik won the Halle Open in June and the European Open in October, Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands tasted success at the Maharashtra Open in January and at home at the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships in June while Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz won the Open 13 and Shanghai Masters.

Countries with one title – Denmark, Greece, Norway, Canada, China and Korea
Holger Rune won the Bavarian Open for Denmark, Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece won in Los Cabos, Denmark’s Casper Ruud’s only title in 2023 came at the Estoril Open.

After winning four titles in 2022, Felix Auger-Aliassime won Canada’s only title as he successfully defended his Swiss Indoors trophy in Basel.

Wu Yibing became the first Chinese male player to win an ATP Tour title when he defeated John Isner in the Dallas Open final while South Korea’s Kwon Soon-woo kicked off his year with his second career title as he won the Adelaide International 2.
