Directed and produced by Subhash Ghai, Yaadein is a musical romantic film. Starring Jackie Shroff, Kareena Kapoor, and Hrithik Roshan in the lead roles, the film is about a single father (Jackie) raising his three young girls with whom he shares a great bond. However, when one of his daughters falls in love with his best friend’s son, things turn dramatic. The movie was released on 27 June 2001 and completed 23 years of its theatrical release today. You can stream this Subhash Ghai film on ZEE5 as well as on OTTplay Premium with a subscription. Although the film has a strong plot and outstanding actors, and it also opened to excellent numbers, it received negative reviews from critics and eventually became one of the biggest flops of 2001.

On its opening day, Yaadein made 1.50 crore and sustained over the weekend with good numbers. However, it folded up around the 15 crore mark and made it difficult for the film to recover its huge budget of 20 crore.

Jackie Shroff and Subhash Ghai’s collaboration goes a long way. The duo has collaborated on multiple films including Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Khalnayak, and then Yaadein.

Interestingly, last year in 2023, on Jackie’s birthday, Ghai announced that he would be collaborating with the veteran actor once again. He shared Shroff’s picture from the sets of Yaadein and wrote, “Once a HERO -always a HERO. BORN as a new super HERO in our film HERO 1983 and #YAADEIN 2001. now comes in 2023 as a heart warming super HERO on big screen film being produced by @MuktaArtsLtd on my script never before. HAPPY BIRTHDAY @bindasbhidu.”
