Kalki 2898 AD box office collection day 31: After experiencing a slump over the past few days, the Prabhas’ film saw a 120 per cent increase in its collection on its fifth Saturday.
In its fifth weekend, the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is showing remarkable growth in its box office collection. After experiencing a slump over the past few days, the film saw a 120 per cent increase in its collection on its fifth Saturday, minting Rs 2.9 crore. This has brought the film’s total domestic earnings to Rs 627.85 crore.
The film had an overall 29.15 per cent Hindi occupancy, followed by Telugu occupancy at 26.18 per cent. The Nag Ashwin epic is refusing to slow down even as it completes a month in theatres, maintaining a steady momentum to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s last year’s blockbuster Jawan, which minted Rs 640.25 crore in India. While Kalki 2898 AD’s worldwide box office stands at Rs 1100 crore, beating Shah Rukh’s other giant hit Pathaan, it still has to surpass Jawan’s worldwide box office collection of Rs 1160 crore to become the 5th highest-grossing film of all time. Prabhas already has his film – Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – second on the list of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Despite many Hindi films releasing at the box office – Vicky Kaushal’s Bad News and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira – none of the films have proven to be major competition for Kalki 2898 AD. Though Bad News has gained some traction, minting Rs 48.25 crore within nine days of its release, Sarfira largely went unnoticed by the audience.
anwhile, Hollywood superhero film Deadpool & Wolverine released in theatres on July 26 and is providing some competition to the Prabhas-starrer. It minted Rs 21 crore in India on day one of its release, followed by Rs 22.50 crore (early estimates) on day two, reaching Rs 43.50 crore in India within just two days of its release.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles. The film features cameos by actors such as Disha Patani, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, Anna Ben, and Vijay Deverakonda.
