Fardeen Khan frequently delights his fans with throwback posts on social media. Recently, Fardeen expressed his gratitude as Govind Nihalani’s film Dev marked its 20th anniversary. Fardeen shared that his co-star Kareena Kapoor had recommended him for the role in this Amitabh Bachchan-starrer.
The Heeramandi actor, who returned to showbiz after a 14-year hiatus, posted a reel on Instagram featuring his character Farhan Ali delivering intense dialogues about religion and communal divide. The video includes scenes of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and the late Om Puri amidst gunshots and explosions. Fardeen captioned his post, “It was my third film with @kareenakapoorkhan and it was she who recommended me for the role, and I will always be grateful to her for that. Being signed by the respected Govind Nihalani for a film with legends like @amitabhbachchan and Om Puri was a huge endorsement for any actor. Govindji was highly respected and was known for his careful direction and powerful storytelling.”
He continued, “This role gave me the chance to work on a film that was relevant and meaningful, which was rare at the time. But the greatest takeaway for me from DEV was getting to share the screen with Amitji, an actor I idolised. His life and most amazing career have had a profound influence on Indian cinema and have left an indelible mark on not just me but on every Indian. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a true honor, and an absolute privilege to work with him, making it one of the highlights of my career.”
Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor also starred together in Fida, which released the same year as Dev. They have acted in three films together, including Khushi (2003).
