Selena Gomez revealed she had an awkward encounter with Jason Segel because of her boyfriend Benny Blanco.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday, the 31-year-old actress recalled a hilarious story of her record producer boyfriend, 35, embarrassing her in front of Segel.

While wearing a sexy LBD and over-the-knee boots, she told the talk show host that she saw the How I Met Your Mother star, 44, at the Emmys last month.

‘Jason Segel just happened to be at the Emmys, and he looked at me and he started waving,’ she said, adding that she is a big fan of the actor.

‘This is kind of embarrassing,’ she admitted. ‘This is such a weird habit, but every night I fall asleep to the same show. It’ll either be Friends or something comfy.’

Recently, she revealed she has been binging How I Met Your Mother.

‘I fall asleep every night just watching the show, and I’m a fan,’ she said.

When she saw the actor at the award show on January 15, she said she immediately waved back: ‘I was like, “Oh, hi!”‘

The Love On singer reenacted the awkward moment when she realized he was not looking at her.

‘I slowly realized that he was waving to someone behind me and I was like, “Oh gosh!” she told Kimmel as she recalled the moment and covered her face.

She then explained that it got worse when they started talking and Blanco told him her secret.

‘He felt awkward and then inclined to come over,’ she explained. ‘And then my boyfriend goes, “Oh, she falls asleep to you every night.”

She said she did not know how to react, so she confirmed it and confessed to Segel.

Then, she recalled her boyfriend Blanco shocking her when he told Segel that she ‘falls asleep to you every night’

She told Kimmel she did not know how to react, so she confirmed it and confessed to Segel

During the 75th Emmy Awards in January, Gomez and Blanco did not walk the red carpet together. However, the couple arrived in the same car and were spotted together inside of the show — which occurred about one month after Gomez confirmed she was in a relationship with Blanco

‘I was like, “That’s weird but I do!” she told Kimmel as she laughed at the encounter.

During the 75th Emmy Awards in January, Gomez and Blanco did not walk the red carpet together.

However, the couple arrived in the same car and were spotted together inside of the show — which occurred about one month after Gomez confirmed she was in a relationship with Blanco.

The pair went public in December 2023 when she commented on a fan page’s post and confessed that they had already been dating for six months at the time.

Since then, Gomez has been excitedly showing off her newfound romance and even gushed about her beau in another interview on Friday.

While talking about her new single Love On, she opened up about her love life during an Apple Music 1 interview with Zane Lowe.

‘Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,’ she said.

‘And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in,’ she continued. ‘I’d have to say overall it’s the safest that I feel, and it’s been really lovely and I’ve only grown through it. So it’s awesome.’
