In a recent episode of Hilton’s podcast This is Paris, the model and singer chatted to Holliday about body image, eating disorders, and dealing with abusive relationships.
Paris Hilton And Tess Holliday Talk About Abusive Relationships
Holliday, who has recently announced she is recovering from anorexia nervosa, got candid about her mom having been in an abusive relationship. This happened when Holliday was nine years old. The model recalled her mom being shot by her fiancé and left in the bathtub, a traumatic incident that resulted in her mother being in a coma for a month at the time.
“My mom, being the badass that she is, woke up from the come and the person who shot her was right beside her because he had made it look like an accident and, like, suicide,” Holliday said.
“And she was able to communicate that he, in fact, did it,” she continued.
Holliday also said that, because of her experience, she also found herself in an abusive relationship years later.
“Because, you know, we repeat the cycles,” Holliday said.
“It happened twenty years ago but that stuff sticks with you obviously,” she added.
Hilton was horrified at the revelations and offered her support to Holliday and her “badass strong warrior” mom. Then she admitted having been involved with abusive partners in the past.
Paris Hilton Slams Those Who Are Insensitive Towards People In Abusive Relationships
Holliday divorced Australian photographer Nick Holliday in 2019. The two have two children together.
The model opening up on her own abusive marriage prompted Hilton to share her own experience.
“I can relate to that too,” Hilton told Holliday.
“I’ve been in several abusive relationships,” she continued.
The heiress also addressed the insensitive way people sometimes react to those who are in abusive relationships.
“People always say, ‘Why don’t you leave sooner?’ and things like that but it’s like, really hard to explain cause some of these guys, they manipulate you,” Hilton said.
“And that gets even normalized sometimes too,” she added.
Holliday also thanked Hilton for sending her a sweet message after she announced her divorce two years ago.
