Cardi B announced last week that she and Offset had decided to split up, ending their one-year marriage. This news led some to theorize that the two were only pretending to date to boost their careers. In an Instagram Live video last night, Cardi B made it clear she was having none of that. “Y’all gotta understand, there’s a kid involved,” “Ain’t no type of publicity that I would ever want that would have my daughter looking at me crazy when she gets older.”
Then she explained further that she and Offset were never a PR relationship: “I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying my relationship was fake,” she started. “Bitch, there’s certain things called love, you know, people do fall in love.”
“My relationship was never fake. I met this n—a, he was on my ass, I gave him a chance and we fell in love with each other, things was not always gravy because at the end of the day we are two different people. But we never did anything for f*cking publicity, bitch. You think I got f*cking pregnant, could have ruined my career for f*cking publicity?”
She did acknowledge that she and Offset may have moved too fast for their own good. (The two started dating in early 2017, got married that September, and welcomed their first child, daughter Kulture, in July 2018.)
“A lot of people saying I moved too fast,” Cardi started. “Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. I don’t know. Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. But shit happens. People fall in love. People get married. People have kids. I don’t regret anything because at the end of the day I have my daughter. She’s beautiful, gorgeous, funny. I love her. It’s the best thing.”
Cardi’s video came around the same time Offset made a very public plea to Cardi on Twitter. “FUCK YALL I MISS CARDI,” he wrote.
Honesty: In her Insat live Cardi asked: ‘Think we want to put our life out there for what? What we gain from publicity? Nothing’
