Now, Bryce Warrecker had better hurry — he’s got an Opening Day roster bullpen spot to win! Half-kidding … but, like … ?

After all, no pitcher displayed better stuff on Sunday — across all of MLB — than Warrecker, according to the robots who calculate such things. The Yankees’ 6’8″, 225-pound 20th-round pick in 2023 has yet to throw a pro inning at any minor-league level, but showed off some absolute frisbees in Sunday’s action in Clearwater, FL.

Now that Drew Thorpe has been sent to San Diego, Warrecker is hands down the Yankees’ best Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) righty. On Sunday, he was also the nastiest pitcher in baseball, picking up right where Hayden Wesneski’s breakout left off a few springs back.

He’s just that nasty.

Will Warren might technically be next in line for the Yankees’ Sweeper Throne at the MLB level, but fans’ eyes will certainly be on Warrecker’s development — which, again, started in earnest this offseason and entered the public eye literally two days ago.

While the righty might not have name recognition just yet, he certainly does have the pedigree. He didn’t win Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Year honors with the Orleans Firebirds in the summer of 2022 by accident!

And, oh, by the way, the designer of the Firebirds’ uniforms? That would be the one and only Marcus Stroman, who started the game Warrecker debuted in on Sunday. It all connects.
