Deepika Padukone made a striking debut at the 77th British Academy Film Awards, not as a nominee but as a presenter, marking her inaugural appearance at the BAFTAs.
Dressed in a resplendent white saree paired with a matching backless blouse, the Bollywood star graced the red carpet at London’s Royal Festival Hall, where the awards ceremony unfolded. Renowned designer Sabyasachi, known for creating stunning saree looks for Deepika, was the creative force behind her captivating ensemble.
Deepika had the honor of presenting the award for Best Film Not In The English Language to director Jonathan Glazer for “The Zone Of Interest.” The actress, who was last seen in “Fighter,” took to social media to share glimpses of her BAFTA night, posting a series of photos showcasing her elegant attire.
Shaleena Nathani, Deepika’s stylist, provided a view from the back, giving fans a closer look at the intricacies of the saree. In her Instagram post, she captioned the image with, “Tonight at the BAFTAs.”
Before taking the center stage at the BAFTAs, Deepika Padukone was captured in a pre-event photograph with celebrity fitness trainer Anshuka Parwani, who expressed her excitement for the upcoming evening with the caption: “BAFTA mornings. Sweating it out before she takes centre stage.”
Deepika has a history of taking the traditional Indian saree onto the international stage. In previous years, she adorned a Rohit Bal creation at the Cannes Film Festival and later wore Sabyasachi and Abu-Sandeep sarees during her time on the Cannes jury in 2022.
At the BAFTAs, hosted by actor David Tennant, Deepika Padukone shared the stage with an illustrious lineup of presenters, including Hugh Grant, Dua Lipa, Idris Elba, and Andrew Scott.
The nominee roster featured prominent names like Bradley Cooper, Cillian Murphy, Paul Giamatti, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Carey Mulligan, Robert De Niro, Robert Downey Jr., Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Rosamund Pike, making it a star-studded and highly anticipated event in the film industry.
