REPORT: One NFL Coach Accused Of Being “Destructive” & Having “No Composure” During Disappointing 2023 Season

One NFL head coach is being accused of having angry and “destructive” outbursts during the 2023 regular season.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News spoke to multiple sources inside the New York Giants’ organize who detailed a lack of “composure” from second-year head coach Brian Daboll throughout the season.

“Daboll, who got the Giants job due to his work with Josh Allen’s Bills offense, ran a consistently hot temperature as his offense cratered beginning with a 40-0 Week 1 loss to the Cowboys. And he often took it out on his OC.

Daboll’s sideline behavior was destructive, in many coaches’ opinions. His input was never proactive, always reactionary. And his outrage was rarely accompanied by a suggested solution…

“America saw it first-hand on Sunday Night Football Oct. 15 in Buffalo. NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark said a “very frustrated” Daboll couldn’t answer questions at halftime because, he admitted: ‘My head is not in this. I cannot focus on anything right now.’”

One source told Leonard that Daboll simply “has no composure.” Another source said that Daboll “would make (offensive coordinator Mike Kafka) run the ball.” If Daboll didn’t like the running play, the source claimed, he would light into Kafka.

A year ago, Daboll was named Coach of the Year after leading New York to nine wins and an unexpected postseason berth. But the Giants were unable to build off that unexpected success, finishing with a disappointing 6-11 record.

Despite the disappointing season for the Giants, Daboll and GM Joe Schoen will both be back for at least a third year together. The Giants currently occupy the No. 6 pick in April’s 2024 NFL Draft.
