Elon Musk, the CEO and owner of X, humorously warned Taylor Swift of a potential decline in popularity following her selection as Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
Musk, who received the same honor in 2021, tweeted this advice to Swift on December 7, relating it to his own experience.
Swift was named Person of the Year after a successful year with her Eras Tour. Musk, known for founding Tesla and SpaceX, has faced public criticism for his recent actions, including the controversial purchase and rebranding of Twitter as X. He previously interacted with Swift on social media, suggesting she post music or concert videos on the X platform, which was met with backlash from Swift’s fans.
Despite Musk’s warning, Swift’s popularity appears unaffected. Following her Time interview, she reportedly gained a significant number of online followers. Her Eras Tour has been a record-breaking success, grossing over $1 billion, with expectations to exceed $2 billion as she continues international dates, starting with a four-night run at Tokyo Dome on February 7. This suggests that Swift’s influence and fan base remain strong, likely rendering Musk’s cautionary words more humorous than prophetic.
