In the first half, Wizards center Daniel Gafford found himself matched up against Wemby in the paint.
The 6-foot-10 big man opted for a shot attempt, but that didn’t go according to plans.
The Spurs star, listed at 7-foot-4 with an estimated 8-foot wingspan, snatched Gafford’s shot out of midair.
Spurs announcers were stunned, as was Wemby’s former French Pro A League teammate with Mets 92 seated on the bench, now Wizards rookie Bilal Coulibaly.
“That’s like a block and a steal at the same time. He just catches it!” Spurs color analyst Sean Elliott remarked on the highlight.
“How do you score that?
“A block or a steal?”
On X, formerly known as Twitter, NBA fans were just as enamored by the play, debating if it was a block or a steal.
