Caitlin Clark Betting: When Will the Iowa Star Break the Scoring Record?
Caitlin Clark has become a household name in sports as she’s dominated the world of women’s college basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes in recent years. The superstar guard is nearing the record for the most career points in Division I history in what has been yet another impressive season. Entering Wednesday’s matchup against Purdue, Clark is 309 points away from securing the record, which is currently held by current Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum.
Clark is currently averaging a career-best 31.3 points per game this season. Just this season alone, Clark has posted 32-plus points in eight of her first 16 games. That includes a recent stretch of tallying 35-plus points in five of her last seven contests.
Over on FanDuel Sportsbook, you can bet on which game Clark will break the record in on the Women’s NCAAB Records tab. So when could Clark surpass the record and add another accomplishment to her already long list of achievements? Let’s take a look at a few games where she could realistically break the record.

February 11th at Nebraska (+850)
As of now, the earliest game FanDuel is offering in this market is on February 11th in a road matchup against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are allowing only 62.5 points per game this season (just the 217th-most in the nation). While Nebraska has been performing well on the defensive end, Clark has averaged a whopping 34.3 points per game in her seven career meetings against the Cornhuskers.
That being said, the impending matchup with Nebraska is only nine games away, which is why it has somewhat high odds. Clark would need a couple of high-scoring outputs in her upcoming outings to have a real shot to break the record in Lincoln.
February 15th vs. Michigan (+155)
There are two games tied for the shortest odds for Clark to break the record, beginning with the home contest versus Michigan on February 15th. The Wolverines appear to be an even stiffer matchup for Clark than the Huskers are as Michigan surrenders only 58.4 points per game on the defensive end (70th-fewest).
At the same time, Clark has proven to be matchup-proof and is recording 34.8 points per game in her four career meetings against Michigan. If Clark can net around her season average in points for each of the next nine games, she’ll certainly be within range of the record when the Hawkeyes face the Wolverines.
February 22nd at Indiana (+155)
Barring an injury, Clark could easily break the record against Indiana as she’ll need to average a little under 31 points per game in her next 10 appearances to put her in position here to realistically achieve it. So, all Clark needs to do to make this game the one where she puts her name atop the record books is continue scoring at her season average.
February 25th vs. Illinois (+650)
If Clark slips up or fails to reach the record against either Michigan or Indiana, she’ll have one of her better matchups at home against Illinois on February 25. The Fighting Illini are permitting 64 points per game (177th-most) on the defensive end this season.
Even with Clark averaging a mere 23.7 points per game in her three career matchups against Illinois, she’d need to record around 28.1 points per game in the next 11 games to make the record obtainable versus the Fighting Illini. Seemingly, only an injury or a couple of uncharacteristically bad performances in upcoming games would make this clash the one where Clark sets the mark.
