Another day, another can’t-miss Caitlin Clark highlight.
Clark led the Iowa Hawkeyes to a dominant 96–71 win over Purdue Wednesday night and posted a triple-double in the process, with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. It was her second straight triple-double and third in the Hawkeyes’ last five games. But Clark’s best highlight of the night was on a shot that didn’t even count.
With time winding down in the second quarter, Purdue attempted to foul Clark intentionally. As the Boilermaker defender reached in, Clark heaved a shot towards the rim just a step or two insde halfcourt and somehow swished it home, sending even Purdue fans into a frenzy. Unfortunately, the referees ruled that the foul had been committed before the shot, nullifying what would have been a remarkable highlight.
This didn't officially count, but everyone needs to see this… @CaitlinClark22 x #Hawkeyes pic.twitter.com/2X11nujpRF

What a shot.
Clark is certainly no stranger to drilling shots from the midcourt logo. Earlier this month, she sunk Michigan State’s upset dreams with an epic stepback three as the final buzzer sounded in a clip that quickly became one of the most recognizable moments of her storied Iowa career. In terms of degree of difficult, this one was even harder, and fans were disappointed it didn’t count… especially given how close to the shot the foul was.
A smart play, an incredible shot … should’ve counted IMO. https://t.co/xkZSGvSQEt

The more I think about it the madder I get. Should’ve been a 4-point play. https://t.co/cqx8Jh6SUH

Every time I’m ready to declare Caitlin’s passing better than her shooting something like this happens https://t.co/chm7jR96Rp
