The Kansas City Chiefs left fans puzzled when they posted what appeared to be a holiday movie poster on X on Tuesday afternoon.
The ‘film’ poster pictured two characters, presumably the protagonists of the movie, staring deeply into each other’s eyes. Behind them is a winter backdrop with Arrowhead Stadium in the distance. The title – ‘Falling for Football’ – was printed underneath the Chiefs’ logo. The main characters, the teaser suggests, will be played by Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish and Canadian actor Tyler Hynes who recently featured in Three Wise Men and a Baby.
Also on the cast list is Travis Kelce’s mom Donna, hip hop artist Tech N9ne, Chiefs players Trey Smith and Tommy Townsend, and former Kansas City star Dante Hall. ‘Tis the postseason, and it ain’t a holiday without a little made-for-TV movie magic,’ the Chiefs wrote alongside the poster. ‘Coming soon.’ ‘Tis the postseason, and it ain’t a holiday without a little made-for-TV movie magic. The caption made reference to Taylor Swift’s 2020 song ‘Tis the Damn Season’ from her ninth studio album ‘Evermore’.
Swift has been a large part of the Chiefs’ season -her relationship with tight end Kelce remains a hot topic around the NFL.
Fans on social media expressed their confusion at the poster. ‘I’m so confused,’ one fan commented.
‘Who are the people in this poster? What is this? *Chiefs social media team evil laughing in a conference room somewhere*.’
‘Where is it coming out on? Hallmark, Lifetime, ETC?’ another added. ‘If this is real, this is AMAZING,’ a third said.
‘Can’t wait to see Momma Donna’s acting skills!’ Fans continued to speculate when the film will be aired, while others alluded to Kelce’s romance with Swift being a distraction.
After losing their season-opener, the Chiefs went on a six-game win streak before inconsistency saw them end the regular season with a 11-6 record. Kansas City still managed to secure top spot in the AFC West and will start the postseason against the Miami Dolphins in the wildcard round.
