In a video posted to Twitter/X, the Hawkeyes star can be seen trying to run off the court, when she collided with an onrushing OSU fan. The college basketball world collectively held its breath, waiting for an update on Clark’s health. The scary incident ended with her needing help to get back to the locker room.

Clark scored 45 of Iowa’s 92 points in the loss and dished out seven assists. She closed the gap on Jackie Stiles, now 42 points away from third place in the all time NCAA scoring charts. Former Buckeye Kelsey Mitchell occupies second place, and Iowa’s guard is now within 51 points of her as well.

Clark gives injury update: it was ‘kind of scary’

Caitlin Clark assured reporters after the game that she only had the wind knocked out of her as a result of the accidental collision. She also said that Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith apologized to her for the incident, which she appreciated.

It just comes with the territory,” she said of the unfortunate situation. “I’m sure they tried their best to do whatever they could, obviously it didn’t work and that’s disappointing. Just focused now on the game and ways we can get better.”
