Travis Kelce admits struggles with motivation this season, despite leading the Chiefs to the Super Bowl: ‘Getting excited in f***ing November when you know you’re about to f***ing wax a team… it’s hard’

Travis Kelce has admitted he struggled to stay motivated this season with the Kansas City Chiefs, after a year like no other with his fame exploding from his relationship with Taylor Swift.

Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in late September, when the singer watched him play for the first time at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chicago Bears.

The tight end now has a chance to round the campaign out with what would be a frankly unbelievable ending at the Super Bowl on February 11, when the Chiefs try to record glory for the second straight season against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

And while Kelce has taken his form to a formidable level in the playoffs, he admitted to his brother Jason on this week’s episode of New Heights that he has found it hard to stay fired up in the middle of the season.

‘There’s a flip of the switch, you kind of turn on in December,’ the Chiefs star said to his older brother.

But the tight end has admitted that in the middle of the season, he finds it hard to be fired up

‘You want to have that switch the entire year but it’s a 17-game season man, it’s hard man. It’s hard.

‘Especially after 11 years, getting excited for a random game in f***ing November when you know you’re about to wax this f***ing team, it’s hard to f***ing get it going every single week.

‘And this year it was harder than ever because we weren’t winning those games. We were trying to find ways to win and kicking ourselves in the foot.

‘And we’re finally getting the juices going, finally playing our best ball at the right time and how can you not get excited about that? How can you not f***ing wake up every single day knowing you’ve got a chance to go and get this thing? It’s the best feeling in the world.

‘There’s nothing better than Jan and Feb football and we are in the thick of it. I love the challenge of going into a hostile environment, backs against the wall, win or go home and finding a way to win with the guys.’

The Chiefs only played three times this season in November, beating the Miami Dolphins on November before losing to Jason’s Philadelphia Eagles team and rounding out the month with a win in Las Vegas against the Raiders.

Kelce propelled the Chiefs to a three-point win over the Bills in Buffalo with two touchdowns and then led the way again on Sunday on the road to Baltimore Ravens, scoring an early touchdown for his team.

He also eclipsed Jerry Rice’s all-time record of 151 postseason receptions in Baltimore.

At present, the Chiefs have three days off after their Ravens heroics and return to the practice field on Friday to hone their plans for the 49ers.
