Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce says he feels “pressure” ahead of his first Valentine’s Day with pop superstar Taylor Swift on the latest episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother and co-host, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, released on Wednesday (Jan. 10).

“Whether you’re feeling the pressure of Valentine’s Day like Jason and I or trying to find the right gift for a significant other, Etsy is the right destination to add that special touch,” Travis said during a reading of an ad for an e-commerce site.

Jason added that it’s “that time of year” to start preparing for something “extra special” for his wife, Kylie, though joked that he actually waited until “the last second.” like every other man on this planet” shortly after.

Swift broke her silence about her relationship with Kelce when she was named Time Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’ last month. The singer praised Kelce for being “so adorable” that she “exploded” when he revealed on his ‘New Heights’ podcast last July that he tried and failed to give her a bracelet with his phone number while attending her ‘Eras Tour’ concert in Kansas City.

Swift added that the two spent “considerable” time together before she attended her first Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium in September, by which time they were “a couple.”

“It started when Travis introduced me in a very cute way on his podcast, which I thought was fucking metal,” Swift said. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually spent a significant amount of time without anyone knowing, which I’m very grateful for because we got to know each other. When I went to that first match, we were already a couple. I think some people thought they saw our first date at that match? We will never be neurotic enough to go on a first date.”

Swift added: “When you say a relationship is public, it means I get to see him doing what he loves, we show up for each other, other people are there and we not interested”. “The opposite of that is you have to go out of your way to make sure no one knows you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

Taylor was nominated for one of the new categories – Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the 2024 Golden Globes – for her record-breaking concert film, Taylor Swift : The Eras Tour. Sadly, she didn’t win a gong, but she did come away with a joke that was brutally aimed at her from the night’s host of the ceremony Jo Koy.

He cracked the joke: “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift… there’s just more to go to here.” It comes amid Taylor’s highly-publicised romance with Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Since dating the NFL hunk, Taylor has been in attendance at several games, with camera shots often panning to her cheering her boyfriend on.

The joke led to Michael Che saying comedians should “boycott” hosting awards shows after Koy’s antics. Che, a co-head writer on Saturday Night Live took to social media on Monday to defend Jo following criticism over his performance and monologue.

“Comedians should boycott hosting award shows,” Che wrote in a now-deleted post on Instagram. “For one, it’s very difficult to make movie stars laugh. They’re way too self-conscious to have a good time. Two, they don’t even want to laugh.”

The NBC star comedian continued: “They’re too busy thinking about their careers and their speeches and their ’cause’… They think they wanna be made fun of, but they actually don’t. They actually just want their trophy. And a nice photo.”

Taylor’s outing comes amid reports Jo’s joke didn’t go down well with the singer, who could be seen looking “stoic and serious” as she drank her drink and kept a straight face on Sunday. Body language expert Jess Ponce, author of A.W.E.S.O.M.E, has weighed in.

Jess told The Mirror: “I’m a huge fan of Jo Koy, and I think overall, he did a commendable job hosting The Golden Globes. However, there were moments that weren’t quite as glorious. One instance that stood out was a weak joke he made about Taylor Swift.

They added: “On Taylor’s part, she didn’t seem impressed with the joke at all. Normally poised, relaxed, and friendly in front of the camera, she adopted a stoic and serious demeanour while taking a sip of her cocktail. Her eyes glared forward and if we could have read her mind I am sure a few choice words would be censored.”

Then, touching on the audience Jess concluded with: “Similarly, the audience only managed a half-hearted laugh in response to the joke. Typically, celebrities are good sports about being the butt of jokes, but in this case, the humor fell flat and didn’t resonate well. It was a total miss on the part of The Golden Globes’ writing team.”

In the photos, Taylor, 34, went out for a late evening stroll despite the gloomy weather.

She was driven up to the sidewalk in Greenwich Village near the famed recording studio Electric Lady Studios, where she got out and braved the rain.

The Midnights singer had her hair down in loose waves and wore her usual slick of bright red lipstick.

She wrapped up in an emerald green knee-length wool dress, layered with a long tan coat.

Taylor kept her look casual with black knee-height boots with a small heel, far away from her usual sparkly concert outfits.

Finishing the outfit, Taylor added delicate pieces of jewelry, with a luxury Yves Saint Laurent handbag balanced on her arm.

Most notably, however, Taylor didn’t smile for the cameras despite her usual high spirits around photographers.

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith leapt to the defense of Taylor Swift after the pop star was accused of negatively impacting Kansas City Chiefs boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s game.

The Anti-Hero hitmaker, 34, has attended several of the tight end’s games this season to great fanfare and attention with the broadcast often focusing on her in the stands.

But as the Chiefs have slumped in recent weeks, NFL fans have been left disgruntled by the attention the songstress was getting from the league and the media.

Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless even chimed in, claiming it was time to start calling Swift a distraction to Kelce and the reigning Super Bowl champions following their defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day. 

Swift was also left unimpressed when Golden Globes host Jo Koy made an distasteful joke at her and Kelce’s expense Sunday night.

However, Bayless’s ESPN rival Smith hit back at Swift’s critics, insisting it wasn’t her fault the cameras were on her. 

‘I have to take a moment to come to the defense of Taylor Swift,’ Smith said on Wednesday’s episode of First Take.

‘Everybody’s sitting up there and acting like she’s some kind of impediment and, excuse me, she did her job! That Eras Tour? Off the chain. Generated billions.

‘[…] She’s going to support her dude. To show up at a football game and the cameras are on her – that ain’t her fault!

‘And excuse me, by the way, she went to the games after the concerts. It’s not like she used the games to bump up the concerts. Oh no! Those kids were going to her concerts whether the NFL was promoting her or not!

‘Taylor Swift is that girl. Let’s show some respect. She probably is gonna have a positive on Travis Kelce’s performance, okay? I’m not trying to disrespect Taylor Swift.’

Bayless wasn’t the only one to point the finger at Swift as OutKick founder Clay Travis also chimed in.

Travis took to Twitter on Christmas Day, after the Chiefs loss, and wrote: ‘The Chiefs are not a good football team and Travis Kelce looks like he should retire.

But both claims were met with derision from NFL fans and Swift’s own supporters, given that the Chiefs clearly have issues on the field, rather than the stands, that clearly need addressing.

Despite the noise, the Chiefs clinched the AFC West division title and sealed their spot in the postseason.

Kelce and co. face the Miami Dolphins at Arrowhead Stadium in the Wild Card round on Saturday.
