Giannis Antetokounmpo, after making history with the Milwaukee Bucks, shared his thoughts in statements.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, in his career filled with successes, achieved a new and challenging milestone yesterday.
Playing with 26 points and 17 rebounds against the Houston Rockets, Antetokounmpo not only secured the victory but also became the player with the most rebounds in the history of the Milwaukee Bucks, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Responding to reporters’ questions after the game, Giannis conveyed his feelings about this record:
“It’s a great feeling, hopefully more will come with hard work. I have a lot I want to accomplish. I have to continue to play at a high level and keep my body ready.
As I do these things, records will come. At the end of the day, being the player with the most rebounds in the history of the Milwaukee Bucks feels very happy. But I have to keep going, go even further.
It’s a great achievement, no one can claim otherwise. Of course, in the coming years, new players will come and break records. No one thought Kareem’s record would be broken. The tall, skinny kid from Greece, expected to play in the G League, is breaking Jabbar’s record.
No one expected that. In the future, someone will come and break the records of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, Marquis Johnson, me, Khris Middleton. If I’m not with my children or enjoying life on an island, I’ll be there to celebrate.”
Regarding Victor Wembanyama and his performance, Giannis stated:
“I don’t watch basketball. I haven’t seen anything. I understand the expectations because I see it from my teammates. Honestly, I have no idea how he plays, where he is in the rankings. It doesn’t matter. I’m just trying to do my best to help my team win.”
