“I got a little too overzealous”: Taylor Swift Had 1 Unconventional Hobby that Left Her with a Permanent Scar

When she was not writing songs, Taylor Swift used to engage in hobbies which she herself describes as “nerdy”.

Taylor Swift, now a billionaire singer with a boyfriend who plays in the NFL, had a nerdy side while growing up. Swift’s biggest stress buster from a young age was undoubtedly songwriting, but she also had a list of other habits. She revealed one such habit in response to a fan question about the scar above her knee. The Anti-Hero singer used to create mansions and castles out of popsicle sticks as an after-school hobby.

Unfortunately, the 12-time Grammy winner will not be performing at the upcoming Grammy Awards, despite being nominated in six categories, including song of the year, record of the year, and album of the year. She will attend the music awards but will have to leave immediately for Tokyo for the next leg of her Eras Tour.

In a video from 2011, Taylor Swift participated in the fun segment, Taylor Swift vs. The Box, where she answered fan questions after picking them from the box. Among the many interesting questions for the Cruel Summer singer, one question really impressed Swift due to the fan’s attention to detail. The fan’s question read, “How did you get that tiny scar above your left knee? I noticed it at the concert.” 

Swift was initially hesitant to reveal the reason, fearing she would be labeled as a “nerd” for sharing this story. She began explaining that she had a hobby at the age of 13. When she wasn’t writing songs, Swift would build popsicle stick houses using a glue gun. She revealed that once she built the houses or castles, she would place little felt bears inside them. Swift shared:

“You’re gonna think I’m really nerdy now after I answer this. When I was 13 years old, I had a hobby that is not… I don’t know! Every day when I would get home from school if I wasn’t writing songs or anything, I would make popsicle stick houses and castles and mansions out of popsicle sticks. I would glue gun them together with a glue gun. I had these little teeny tiny little felt bears that I would like that would live in these popsicle stick houses.”

Swift further shared that when she was making the popsicle stick house on one occasion, she got a bit too excited with the glue gun. The glue accidentally fell right onto her leg, and the Bad Blood singer pulled it off without realizing that it would hurt and leave a scar. Swift jokingly requested her fans not to stop listening to her music after hearing this story. Taylor Swift shared:

“One day I was making a popsicle stick house. It had a slide and everything was awesome… swing set… the whole deal. I got a little too overzealous with the glue gun. [It] fell right onto my leg and I’m like pulled it off. ‘Whoa! That’s gonna be a scar.’ Please don’t stop listening to my music because I told you that story.”

The 34-year-old singer recently made headlines by becoming a billionaire, one of the few musicians to achieve this feat. Her Eras Tour crossed $1 billion in ticket sales, making it the first billion-dollar tour in concert history. Unlike other musicians on the billionaire list, Swift’s net worth primarily comes from her music and performances.

Besides her singing skills, Taylor Swift appears to have a knack for cooking. She loves to spend some time in the kitchen, something her friend and model Gigi Hadid can confirm. Hadid shared with InStyle that “Swift is an exceptional cook” and mentioned her best dishes. Hadid shared, “She also makes a really good bolognese sauce and a really good chili that I love.”

Swift wrote in her Lover diary that antique stores were a “new hobby” of hers, but not the “neat, organized” ones. The Shake It Off singer loves to “dig through” antiques and “find absolute treasures for nothing” (via The Honey Pop). Her art and craft skills go beyond the popsicle stick houses, as she also enjoys making snow globes. In an older post, she shared pictures of eight snow globes with the caption, “Homemade snow globes with friends. The whole fleet!”.

Taylor Swift is also an enthusiastic learner. Since she visits many countries for tours in a calendar year, she has picked up a few phrases in different languages. During an interview with David Letterman, she shared that she can speak a few sentences in Japanese when in Japan. Swift also loves animals and television shows, evident from the names of her three cats, Benjamin Button, Meredith Grey, and Olivia Benson.
