Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship has taken the world of American football by storm, so much so that the NFL seem to think they have tied the knot.

The couple have been dating since September, with Swift making several appearances at Arrowhead Stadium to watch her boyfriend in action.

Swift has even been shown on the jumbotron, as she was during the 27-17 win over the New England Patriots.

Rumors speculating Kelce, 34, could propose to the Cruel Summer singer with a ring have intensified of late, but the NFL’s latest error would render such an exercise pointless.

Why? Because according to them, Kelce has already taken her last name.

In a new video released by the league’s official account on X, formerly Twitter, the narrator discusses Saturday’s wild-card playoff tie between the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins. Needless to say, Kelce’s form earns him a mention as the video breaks down the tight end’s stats.

But he is not referred to as Kelce. Instead, the man in the video can be heard curiously referring to him as ‘Travis Swift’, and it is unclear whether it is a slip of the tongue or a conscious attempt at humor.

The clip says: “The Dolphins didn’t lock wideouts up this year … they gave up a 108.3 rate to tight ends, seven touchdowns, only one pick, and now they take on Travis Swift…Kelce.”

NFL criticized as ‘unprofessional’

Some fans on social media believed the move was deliberate and ‘unprofessional’ to mislabel Kelce, while Swift fans praised the move as excitement builds about their four-month romance.

Part of the pre-match ritual now is to garner information on whether Swift will be in the crowd, as she has attended nine games so far to prove her devotion to Kelce.

Indeed, the Chiefs seem to enjoy having her along for the ride, featuring the Golden Globe nominee in their playoff preview video, which was themed after a Hallmark movie.

It might be one of the last times she is able to attend a game in the postseason as her Eras Tour, which was paused to allow Swift a well-earned rest, resumes in February.
